The Bakery, Confectionery, and Tobacco Workers International Union Printed Ephemera Collection is an artificial collection, collected and assembled by the Tamiment Library over the course of several decades. Material in the collection originates with the national bodies of the Bakery, Confectionery, and Tobacco Workers International Union as well as the American Bakery and Confectionery Workers' International Union and the Bakery and Confectionery Workers' International Union of America. The collection also contains material from locals around the country, most notably, from Bakers' Union Local 3 of New York City, which was formed as a Local for all New York City bakers who were previously organized as small, often ethnically based locals.

Founded January 13, 1886 as National Union of Journeymen Bakers of North America. In 1902, the union was also given jurisdiction over confectionary workers. Bakers Union Local 3 was established in 1955 with the merger of locals 1, 3, 17, 164, 288, and 579. During the Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union Convention of 1951, a resolution was passed to implement the merger of all New York bakery locals.
